Yowie! I'm a lobster!

I'm feeling a bit crispy at the moment and I'm sure it won't feel much better in the morning. Our friend Karen invited the playgroup to her community pool to swim this morning. We were the only ones to go but we all had a lot of fun. Logan rediscovered he could swim this past Saturday in a jacuzzi and he was swimming and diving a ton today in the pool. Ian barely got in the water (need to get that boy into lessons asap!). He played on the steps mostly. And Bella stayed with me on my lap as I sat on the steps. I dunked her a few times and had her hold onto me while I kicked her feet behind her just like Mr. Thom, our now-moved-away swim instructor used to do to the boys and she didn't mind too much which surprised me because she hates getting her face wet. Most of the time she just sat happily with me though.

Sitting on the steps wasn't a great idea. I totally forgot sunscreen on my legs and they are quite red from mid-thigh to my knees. My shoulders are also red and I DID put sunscreen on. I put on some spray this morning and it seemed kind of oily like it was bad or something so I wiped it off and put some SPF50 lotion on. I thought I'd be okay but I was wrong! Ugh. I don't know what happened. I only put SPF15 on my face and it's fine. So all night now I'm been lotioning, diaper creme'ing and vinegaring my lobster red body. I'll try it all at this point.

The kids were SPF'd up too and Logan only got a little pink. Thankfully they all got daddy's Puerto Rican skin and they tan nicely. The biggest issue today for Logan was his eyes. I guess the chlorine in the pool really got to him and his eyes were burning terribly when we got home. I tried saline but getting him to hold his eyes open is impossible. He did say the funniest thing tonight though. When DH got home Logan was telling him about swimming. And he came out with, "... but it hurt my eyes, there are invisible tentacles in the water!" LMAO. So cute! Next time, he'll wear goggles. We wouldn't want any more tentacles getting in his eyes!

Burned or not, I'm just glad we got out of the house and the kids all had fun. I don't think I'll be headed out in the sun for a few days though. Sunburn + more sun= more pain! No thank you!

Playgroup then & now

I've been a part of my playgroup since July 2003 (I think). There are a handful of us who have been here since the beginning and we're all great friends. Our kids have grown up together, we've shared our thoughts and secrets and our sadness and joy. We've seen many members come and go. I thought today's blog should show you all just a glimpse of how we've changed and grown. The pics will be mostly the kids and how they have changed but you may see a pic of yourself in there! You've been forewarned... the 1st pic is from 2003-2004 and the 2nd is from 2007-2008.

Where to begin??

I haven't blogged in a few days so this will be a mish mash (is that a word?) of things.

Let's see.....Friday night we went to the zoo for Summer Safari Nights. The weather was looking very bad- tons of lightning in the distance as we were driving towards the zoo but luckily for us, it moved past us so we had a good time. They opened a new penguin exhibit which we didn't see. The line was ridiculously long. We did see a lot of other animals though and the kids all had a great time. Julie and I like to people watch and boy did we see something. I'm not sure what this woman was thinking but I'll let you look and decide...

While I'm glad she's confident in her body, this isn't something I'd expect to see at the zoo!
Before it did start raining on us, I did get a few shots of the kids.

What else... Logan went to bed with real underwear on last night. Wow and yippee! He's been very good at staying dry all night (knock on wood) but he still feels dependent on his Goodnites. That will be over by tomorrow though. He has none left.

Oh yes, my BOC (see a few posts back). Well, my real BOCs have shipped so I can't tell you what I got yet, but I did get my Roomba which we've named Mickey (mouse) courtesy of Logan and I got my BBCBOC from the Babycenter gals. Here's what was in there...

Want me to list everything? Good. LOL
Johnsons Lotion, Caraway seed paint sample, butterfly napkins, Atlanta Zoo bumper sticker, brush, pink stretchy band, wood owl thing, USA puzzle, hairband, pez, Lindt chocolates (obviously melted Oops!), 1 pregnancy test, You are my sunshine plaque with stand, Aerosole tote bag and wine pourer with handle. Lots of good crap! LOL I can't wait to see what 's in the real BOC.

The boys are doing so well in swimming. I'm very proud of both of them.

Oh and one more pic tonight... me! I'm at my lowest weight so far- lost 74.4lbs.

I have around 12lbs to go to my goal weight. I've gone from a plus size 18 to a 10. It feels good.
