It's Raining...

It's pouring...

Don't get me wrong. I'm grateful for the rain. We're in a 3 year drought here in Florida but we don't get this much rain during a hurricane! At least during a hurricane we get sun in between the rain bands. The past 2 days have been cloudy and rainy all. day. long. Makes walking Logan to class very difficult (dropped him in car line this morning) since I have all 3 kids to keep dry. Picking him up is just as much fun. Yesterday I left the truck on (remote start) with the younger two all buckled up and went to get Logan by myself. Before anyone jumps on me, I'm within eyeshot the entire time and the doors are locked. The kindergarten walkers are all brought out to the front of the school. Hopefully with the rain now and all this week and of course our normal summer showers our local swimming hole will fill up quickly so we can go have some fun in the sun and water!

Talk about timing

We just walked in the door from getting Logan from school and it's now pouring outside! When we pulled in the neighborhood it started sprinkling, when I opened my door to get Ian and Bella out (Logan can get out on his own now- though harnessed) it was sprinkling harder. I get everyone in the house and not 2 minutes later the heavens open up. That's good timing! I feel for the kids and parents walking home though!

Labor Day Weekend

Busy, busy!

First, I hope all my New Orleans friends stay safe with Gustav on his way. Let's pray it fizzles out for you!! Let's also pray that Hanna fizzles too. No. more. hurricanes.

Today started out with dh having a computer job to do so he wasn't here all morning. I took all three kids to Costco to do some grocery shopping. Costco was a madhouse. On the weekends they have those little booths set up so you can get free samples of foods they carry. We're talking about mini-cups. At one booth they were giving out samples of ice cream. I don't know what kind it was because I couldn't get near the booth. You would think they were giving out $20 bills! There was a line of people blocking the aisle trying to get a mini cup of ice cream. Thank goodness the boys had no idea what was there. I was not about to stand in line for that.

We got home and the skies opened up. It was blowing! I backed in so I could stand under the overhang and water was still coming into my truck. My carpet got wet in a few places. Once dh got home, we just hung out for a while and then he took the boys up to our favorite pizza place to meet his buddy for dinner. He brought me home a whole pizza (I only asked for a slice!). Apparently Moe had made a mistake pizza so dh got a bargain on it. LOL He was proud of himself for getting said bargain and happier still that I liked sausage on pizza. It's not like he could have eaten it! ;)

Tomorrow we are headed to Disney-Hollywood Studios I think with possibly a stop at DTD in the afternoon. We'll see how the weather is and how hot/tired we are.

Monday I think we're going to the Magic Kingdom. This will be our third Labor Day at Disney. We aren't spending the night in Orlando though even though it would be easier. It will cost us less in gas just to drive plus we'd have to find someone to watch/feed our dog. I'm excited to go because we haven't been in a couple of months. *gasp* I must say, the economy is pissing me off. We aren't able to do a vacation at all this year. :( Oh well... I know we're better off than many so I count my blessings and move on.

Holy thunderstorm!

I got soaked today. It started pouring just before I was supposed to leave the salon today. The electricity went out so we decided to forgo the hairdry as I was going to get wet anyway plus we didn't want to get electrocuted. The stylist let me borrow one of their big umbrellas but the rain was coming down at such an angle and the wind was blowing so much that I had to hold the thing sideways to keep from getting wet. The entire bottom half of me still got wet though! I drove home thru flooded streets- that's how hard and fast it was coming down.

I got home and dried off and had to check out my hair. I'm blonde again! I didn't expect her to go so light. She did all over highlights. I really don't like the cut though. She said she followed my old cut and just took off the razored edges but now the layers are just blunt and ugly so I'm going to have to call her and see what she can do. It's not going to be worth the discounted rate (half of what I was paying at my other stylist) if I don't like the cut. I'll have to update on that later!
