Birthday weekend!

We had Logan's 4th birthday party with our family today. He had a good time except for fighting with his older cousin constantly. ugh! He got some cool new toys that I'm sure he'll be fighting with his brother about in the morning. LOL One of them is a Cars (the movie) race track. Ian loves this thing and tries so hard to get the car off the track (it automatically runs). He got some books, games, clothes and even a savings bond. Yay! For food, we went with a "nacho bar". Everyone got to make their own nachos or in my case, a nacho salad(no chips). I did eat a tiny piece of Logan's cake this afternoon and a bigger piece of the anniv. cake I bought for my parents tonight(it had chocolate icing. Yum!). Overall I don't think I did too bad today. It helped having healthier choices. Here are a couple of pics of my cake. I did one with flash so you could see the color and one without so you could see detail. Moving this down so my slider doesn't get in the way....scroll down........................................................................................................

One more party to go. We're having cookie pops at the park Monday with his friends. I'll be baking most of the day tomorrow I think(with the exception of going to visit my friend Vickie!).

{PT}
Can I say I'm so frustrated with potty training and I know I need to back off, but it's so hard! Logan is pee trained but he's pooping constantly (not one big poop like he was doing). It's all day long in his underwear. I'm tired of washing underwear! Today he put a pullup on bc I didn't feel like dealing with it. He still peed on the potty okay so maybe I should stick with pullups for a while? While we were at the park, he pooped in his undies too. Ugh- I hate PT!!

{Supporting dh}
Am I an unsupportive wife? Dh really wants me to go to a conference with him on the 30th. It's in Odessa from 9am-3pm. Okay, I'm still nursing a child who nurses 3x in that time span. Yes, he'll be okay with out at least 2 of them and so will I but I told dh I won't go if I can't nurse him first thing in the morning(we'd have to leave by 8am {UGH} and Ian usually isn't up until that time. It's not that I don't want to go (okay, really I DON'T want to go!) but after Ian sleeps all night, I HAVE to nurse in the morning. I was so stressed last night that I cried after he asked me to go to this thing. He has no idea of that though. I don't know why I was crying- I can only assume it was the stress of the party, getting Halloween stuff together, being overly tired, etc. There's also finding someone to come over that early and watch them. Plus I REALLY don't want to go listen to these "motivational" speakers but I feel like I have to to support him in this career move. I keep thinking about Robin McGraw's new book and how she's supported her dh in everything and I want to be like that. I just don't want to be bored silly or worrying about my boys. I hate being away from them unless they are with dh. I don't leave them with anyone. Yes, I'm an overprotective mom and I have no shame in it. My boys are my life. I'm still undecided if I'm going or not, but my ticket is bought.....at least if I go, I get a new outfit out of it! LOL

Speaking of my boys- My Dad gave me the best compliment today. He said I was a very good mom. I also got many compliments on my weight loss but hearing that from my Dad was the best!

{Season premier week!!}
Yippeee!!!!! I love this time of year. LOL And thank goodness for TIVO! There are so many shows I watch. I'm anxious for Lost, Grey's Anatomy, ER, Ghost Whisperer, Gilmore Girls and 7th Heaven to name a few. Survivor started last week and was good. There are a few new shows I'd like to see like Ugly Betty and Runaway too. TIVO rawks!

My son scared me to death this morning

Around 5:20am, dh gets up to look at the clock (presumably to make sure he hasn't overslept) and notices Logan's light is on and his door is open. It was really quiet though so I thought he had fallen asleep after turning it on. Dh walks out with a frown and starts searching the house. When he came back to the room again, I started to worry so I got up to search. We only have a 1200sq ft house! I even checked the doors which he can't open, but you just never know. Finally, I hear dh talking and he has found Logan under our bed (which is a storage area, no idea how he got under there). He had already glanced under there once(all sides) and didn't see him. When he found him, Logan crawled out and was crying. He apparently had a very bad dream (couldn't remember it this morning though). I let him crawl in bed with me and we slept for another hour or so. My heart was beating so fast! I was about to panic had dh not found him. I ended up having my own nightmare during our early morning "nap" re: someone wanting to hurt him. Let's hope he doesn't have anymore nighmares and if he does, he crawls into bed with us, not under it!

Speaking of scary stuff, Logan has taken a disliking to any Halloween scary stuff like masks, ghouls, ghosts, etc that you find decorating the party stores (and even Goodwill!). He's very wary of them but he doesn't freak out or anything. I wonder if that has anything to do with his dream.

Dh is working so hard to make money right now which is great, but I sometimes feel like it takes away from his kids. It's all hit or miss, so while he's getting alot of computer jobs this week, next week he probably won't. I know this whole new job on the side(Primerica), extra work(computers) will be hard at first and I'm prepared for that but I feel bad for the boys. Logan is always asking when Daddy will be home and that he misses him. Awww. Ian just wants to be with him. Daddy is the "fun" parent while Mommy isn't. I'm more the caregiver/disciplinarian but I'm also the one they run to when they are hurt which is okay with me. I love cuddling with them.

Scrapbooking news!! My CT(Creative Team) at DigitalFreebies has been axed but retrodiva(tracy) has decided to keep a bunch of us on as her personal CT! Yea!! I'm still hoping I get on with the SweetShoppe but I'm not holding my breath. LOL I need to get working on some layouts now.

Costume update- my gf Andrea sent me a pic of her little pirate from last year so I could get some ideas. I like the idea of taking off the "pearl" buttons and adding a leather string as lacing but I think I'll have to add some "button" holes to make it look right as crisscrossed. I've also been told twice now to take a black tshirt and cut off the sleeves and down the middle to make a vest. I wonder how that would look....

Random stuff

Let's see, I didn't blog yesterday but it was 9/11- 5 years later and that day is still so fresh in my mind. May we never forget.

Today- we went over to Goodwill. I have it in my head to make the boys' costumes this year for Halloween. Logan will be a pirate and Ian will be a parrot. Cute, right? I found some big baseball pants for Logan that I will cut off below the knee and a ladies small baby blue blouse that had just the right amt of pouf to it for a pirate shirt. Dh doesn't think it looks quite right though(it has pearly buttons for one. LOL). Hey, it's the best I could find at Goodwill without dragging the kids there week after week. Ugh. He thinks we need a vest(which would look good) and I have no idea where to find one. I don't think a suit vest will look right and I. Don't. Sew. I don't like sewing and I don't own a machine although I'm sure my mom would lend me hers. I did find a pirate hat at GW(most expensive item I got today $13), a play sword, a scarf and a shell(puka?)/bead necklace. I also bought a bunch of feather boas in red, green and yellow for Ian's costume. My idea is to get a lightweight hooded shirt(if I can find one!) and glue the feathers in rows around it. I could add a beak to the hood and he could wear tights in yellow or orange. In my mind, it sounds good! LOL If anyone has an idea to help me with my costume making, please email me or comment!!! Here's a pic of Logan so far (again, the pants will be shortened and he'll have a rope or sash for a belt)

I got my official invitation to my grandparent's 65th wedding anniversary party in October. I'm excited to go even if it's only for a couple of days. I'm kinda worried about paying for it though. The plane tickets are what will be the most expensive I think. It seems like stuff just keeps coming up- now my van has to go into the shop Saturday. It has a knocking sound in the front like a CV boot or something. Let's hope it's nothing too expensive! I still have to buy my fall/winter wardrobe because I have NOTHING that fits anymore. Seriously, I'm down to some tanks and tshirts and 2 pairs of shorts that fit. Not that it's a bad thing! I love losing all that fat, but it will eventually get cold. I think I may try selling all my fat clothes on Ebay and see what I can get to pay for my new stuff. We also need luggage for the 4 of us, not only for this trip but for our Disney vacation.

Aahhh our vacation! I'm psyched!! And I know dh is as well. This will be our first vacation other than our honeymoon. We could never get tired of Disney. Only a couple more months!!

And lastly for now, potty training....sigh...he does so well peeing(except for nighttime and long car rides, he's trained) why can't he get the poop part down?! Why is it okay for him to poop sometimes in the potty but the other 95% of the time he goes in his undies? Argh! I'm trying a new tactic with giving him magnets if he goes and he'll get a prize once he earns 7 magnets but it's not working. I'm at a loss.

Bowling!

Logan and I went to a birthday party today at the bowling alley. It was cosmic bowling and we had so much fun! It was his first time and he loved it. I have no idea what his actual score was since there were 3 kids in our lane and noone actually bowled on their turn all the time. LOL They played some old school music and I even danced! LMAO! It was to the Cha Cha slide. I am apparently the only one who knew it.

{Scrapbooking}
I applied for a new CT at the Sweet Shoppe. I got the newsletter today and over 120 people applied for 4 spots. I'm thinking my shot is not that great. :-( I'd love to be on their team though- I love the designers!

{Party}
I went over to Joann's tonight for a bit to get some stuff for Logan's parties next week. He's decided on Thomas for his park party so to keep it simple, I'm making cookie pops. I found a cute pan tonight and you add your dough and put a stick in just like a lollipop. I think I'll add icing to some, maybe dip a few in leftover chocolate fondue I still have from my bookclub meeting and maybe some rice krispie treats or something. He's having a Cars party at home and I found the actual Wilton Lightning McQueen cake pan so I went ahead and bought it. I have a generic race car pan I bought originally, but I'll just stick it with the rest of my pans or sell it later on. I wish they had a Mater cake pan!

{Halloween}
I'm still trying to figure out what to do for Halloween for my boys. I keep coming back to a pirate and parrot. All the pirate costumes seem so cheap looking though and good luck finding a parrot costume for a toddler. I'm thinking of making my own parrot but I think I'll have to order some feathers or feather boas online to get them cheap enough. In my mind, the costume doesn't seem so hard, but putting it together is something else. I'm not sure what to do about the pirate except scout out the Goodwill or something. Anyone have any ideas?

{Million Dollar Baby}
I watched this movie last night and wow it was good! It ended in a way I didn't see coming. Since dh is gone again tonight fixing a computer, I may have to watch another flick. Or maybe I should get moving on my bookclub book. hmmmmm

Why do I do this?

Why do I watch things I know will be sad? Animal Planet played the very first Crocodile Hunter show (I think) from Feb 2000. It showed Steve from the time he was a boy and how he learned all he knew, the day he got married, the day his dd Bindi was born (That's when I cried!) and on and on. I cried because I can not imagine the pain Terri and her children are going thru. I cried for Bindi and Bob who have lost their father and their hero. I cried for Terri who lost such a wonderful husband and best friend. UGH!

{Logan}
Logan is doing so awesome at PT!!! (knock on wood) We've gone on 2 outings wearing undies and he's had no accidents. He's even pooped without me having to fight him. He did it today but didn't tell me and even forgot to flush (what a man! LOL). Of course that also means he didn't wipe. I guess we need to work on that. I'm so glad not to be changing his diapers anymore. He wears one to bed because he sleeps so soundly but that's it. He apparently learned to pee standing up while in the bathroom with Daddy at Disney so now that's the way he wants to do it. Unfortunately he sometimes forgets to lift his shirt and well, you get the picture.

I've finally sorta planned his birthday party too. We'll have a friends party at the park and a family party here at home. I think I'm keeping it simple this year. Just feeling lazy I guess. I think I've decided what to buy him too (like he needs anything!). I saw the Leapster and Leapster LMax at Target today and it's educational and fun looking. He loves playing on the PC at home. The games are kinda pricey but it lasts from like age 4-10 so it should be good for a while.

{Ian}
Ian has discovered he can climb the back of our couch to look at himself in the glass of the picture hanging there. He is such a little monkey! He also has attempted half heartedly to climb his crib. He just can't get that leg up there quite yet. I guess he'll be the one I buy a crib tent for. I can not imagine letting him loose in the room by himself just yet.

I think Ian will be our baseball player. He can throw hard and straight. I don't think Logan can throw straight! He's also into hitting- drives me crazy. He likes to bite my shirt when he's tired and if I tell him no, he just gives me that mischevious smile of his and tries to do it again. Oh my, I'm in trouble with this one!

Conversation with Logan

I thought this was a cute conversation between Logan (4yrs) and me in the van today.

Logan: Look! A playground!

Me: Yes, it's at the daycare. That's where little kids go when their moms and dads work.

Logan: Mommies don't work! Daddies work.

Me: Some mommies work.

Logan: You don't work. Daddy works.

Me: No I don't go to work. I work at home. Don't I take care of you?

Logan: Yes. I love you Mommy.

Me: I love you too angel.

Now isn't that so sweet?!

Disney and other random thoughts

{Disney}
We went over to the Magic Kingdom yesterday (Labor Day) for a few hours since dh had off. It was so nice (and quite surprising) to see how low the crowds were. We were able to walk right on to most rides. Logan was able to ride his first roller coaster (The Barnstormer over in ToonTown) and actually rode it twice. He giggled the entire time. It was so cute! I was surprised it went as fast as it did. He wanted to go on a 3rd time but we decided to take advantage of the light crowds and go on some other stuff. We went on It's a Small World and Ian starting nodding off just as the ride was finishing. Awww... if you know him, he doesn't nap just anywhere. He got in a good 30min nap in the stroller after that I'd say so he was doing good. We got to see the new Jack Sparrow show (from Pirates of the Carribean for those who don't know) and the actor we saw was great! He had the voice and mannerisms of Depp's character from the movie down pat! We went on the newly renovated ride afterwards. It would be fun if you didn't know the storyline behind Jack, but it's funnier if you do! I got to taste my first Dole float (no not the Dole whip, next time!). In the 50+ times we've been to Disney, I've yet to actually have a Dole Whip although I hear they are awesome. For those who don't know, it's vanilla and pineapple soft serve swirled together. Mmmm After that, we ate dinner, went on a few more things, visited some shops and came home. It was drizzling before we left but not enough to really require a poncho. I made dh drive home though because I hate driving in the rain, especially at night.

{Logan's Birthday}
It's coming up quick and I still haven't planned anything. I don't know what's wrong with me! I'm usually so on top of these things. I'm thinking of keeping it simple this year and doing a party at a park for his friends and doing a family party at home. Much as I dread a party at home, I'm not sure what else to do. I really don't have the space for 15 or so people. Heck, I only have one couch and 2 chairs in my living room and 3 dining room chairs! I guess half the people will have to stand. LOL I'm not sure what to tell people when they ask what to get him either. I'm very picky about his clothes and I usually don't like what people pick out. I'm not a snob, but Walmart clothes are not quality clothes! Go to the Children's Place in the mall- cheap prices but awesome quality! I'll even take Target clothes, just no Walmart. He owns books galore(loves reading like me!) and we own tons of toys with no room to store them. Maybe I'll ask for some homeschooling dvd's. He's learning so quickly, he's outgrowing the Leapfrog dvds he owns.

{So Sad}
The Creative Team I'm on over at DigitalFreebies is disbanding. I had so much fun doing new layouts for the designers. I can only hope I'll be picked for another team. For those who don't know, I love digital scrapbooking! It's so much fun and so easy. I don't have to worry about storing/buying a bunch of supplies. I can use the kits over and over changing the hues, mixing kits, cropping, etc. All I have to do is print them. I'm hoping to print some to give as gifts this year if I ever get on the ball about doing it!

A Great Loss

I woke up Monday morning to the horrible news that Steve Irwin the "Crocodile Hunter" was dead. I was and still am in shock. How is it a celebrity whom I've never met but watched only on TV, movies and various guest appearances can touch me so much? He seemed like such a vibrant, passionate, loving man who cared deeply for both wildlife and his family. While he died doing something he loved, I am so sad for his wife and their two young children. I wonder "what if". What if he had left that barb in his chest? Would he have survived to make it to a hospital? Supposedly the weather had been bad enough to call off the shoot for the "Ocean's Deadliest" documentary they were shooting so he decided to get some shots for another show he was doing with Bindi (his dd). What if he had just said let's try again tomorrow? I guess we'll never know.

Changing blogs

I've decided I want a more personalized blog (if I can figure out the whole HTML thing!) but I will keep my old blog specifically for my weight loss. If you want to read any of my old posts or keep up with my weight loss, go here. I'll update thoughts later after my little guy is in bed!
