Another Disney Dilemna

If we buy our passes by July 31st, we save 10% on passes. What to do...what to do? 10% is about $135 off a FL res pass. That's a good chunk of change.

If we wait until next year or after no doubt the price will have gone up as they always do. Ugh.

You blog about not having money, insurance, reduce lunches...hmm...I think this is an easy decision. No one wants to keep paying for your Disney vacations.

Whoa! I don't know who the hell you are but why not post with your name? We may qualify for reduced lunches but we've never used them. The school asked that we sign up even if we didn't think we were eligible bc they need the numbers. I blog to vent and share my thoughts, don't like it, don't read it. We are getting by just fine. Are we budgeting our money? yes but who isn't nowadays. We haven't had to scale back yet, we've just talked about it. So get off your high horse. Noone else is paying for us to go to Disney. We aren't on welfare or food stamps. We pay our bills on time, we have very little debt. What we choose to do with our tax money is our business. It doesn't come out of your pocket. It came out of dh's paycheck. We haven't even made a decision yet. I'm just writing my thoughts on MY BLOG. Again- don't like it, don't READ IT!

Grow a pair and don't post anon. next time. I'd like to know who I'm yelling at online. :)

Hi-I am Cathy. I found your blog through a friends, and yes, I have read before. I do not blog myself. You share your thoughts, but don't want the "negative" comments? I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way when they read your blog. You child does receive free health care does she not? Well, then yes, we are paying for some of your expenses. This is the last time I will read your blog.

Do not let people get you down Karlise! You do what you want with your money. It is none of their business. You all deserve a break and if disney is your break. Would they prefer you drink, smoke or do drugs? Then they could send CPS. You cannot make everyone always happy. Stay true to yourself.

No as a matter of fact it's not FREE. We do pay a small fee each and every month for the kids' health insurance. My husband works hard and we pay taxes too so we are paying it that way as well. Thank you for not posting anon btw.

you can do whatever you want with your money, but holy crap!!! Passes cost $1350??? Youch! I guess that's why we don't have passes. LOL!

If you will use them fairly often I would say get the passes. I am hoping to take the kids to Disney sometime in the next few years. The thing that stinks is all the airfare and hotel costs.

Yes they do. NOT cheap, hence the reason we didn't renew this year and why if we did go ahead and get them we'd be taking picnic lunches/dinners each time. BUT when you average it out by how many times you go and all 4 parks, it's really not that bad. It ends up paying for itself. If I averaged the 4 passes we'd need and we go twice a month minimum, it comes out to about $14/day/person and includes parking($12). Basically it would be about $44/day for all 4 of us.

Normal ticket prices are over $75/person and you can't park hop and have to pay for parking. plus we usually take one week vacation and that would be even more days. We won't be doing Disney hotels much anymore though. Not with 5 people now. I found cheap but really nice condos CHEAP just 2 min from Disney. :) Anyway....off on a ramble. We haven't even made up our minds. I was really leaning towards NO for now and just waiting until next year or the following to get them again. The economy is pretty iffy still, ya know?

I hear ya... we have pretty much all extras on hold for now. Q's job is stable, but now that I don't have much capacity to work for a while, and we really don't know when things will turn around to the point where I will get some work, we're just trying to save wherever possible. We have started a small business on the side that will hopefully turn a small profit by the end of the year, but even that will have to be put back into the business for a while... times are tough!

I know what you mean about the money and economy. Jay's tile business is finally starting to come back but it will be a while before we are back on our feet. I just started college classes so I will have my degree once Roo starts full-day kindergarten and I can hopefully get a job at the school. Luckily we qualify for grants and loans since the business was so bad last year. I hope this economy turns around soon!

PS~ Congrats on managing to get a hairflip on your blog. That is hilarious!

Don't let the negative comments bother you. If you're most likely going to get the passes, go ahead and do it and save the 10%. If you've decided not to this year, I'm sure there will be another deal next year.

I think if you are going to use them often enough to justify the cost, than get them. 10% is 10%. KWIM?
