Over or under packer?

Which are you?

I tend to be an overpacker. I want to make sure I have everything I need just in case.

You know, Bella is a breastfed baby thus we have a lot of blowouts so I need 5 extra sets of clothes and 20 diapers. We may forget to change Ian and we need an extra pair of shorts. I can't decide what to wear so I bring an extra outfit. Or maybe we'll come back to the hotel hot and sweaty and want to go out later, so of course I need another outfit. ;) I think it may drive dh a bit nuts but I just can't help myself. It's the way I'm wired.

I know some people who are minimalists. They bring just what they need and that's that. I don't want to have to do more work on my vacation like laundry so doing a bit more leg work beforehand just works!

How do you pack?

Well, it depends on where I'm going and what I'm going for. However, I tend to lean more toward the over packer.

Well I used to be a major "over" packer but it depends on what kind of vaca it is. Most of the time we go somewhere (like this past trip) & stay in a time-share so we have a full kitchen & washer/dryer in our room. With boys I pretty much have to plan on laundry every day so in that case I bring just the basics we need. But in a regular hotel w/o washer/dryer & where we eat out...definitely over pack...no way around it. I have to say the beach this year was SO much easier now that Patrick is over 2..he doesn't need as much "special" stuff and so much less gear! Have fun!

I pack pretty much like you do. I'm always thinking about what if's. When we come home from short trips I always have to unpack a lot of stuff we didn't need.

Yep...I'm a "what if-er." I bring everything I think I "might" need or want for that matter. Jason will never understand but has learned to accept I am the way I am. I honestly wish I could make it more simple when it comes to packing but I just can't!

Well, I'm a shopper, so I guess that makes me an overpacker. I pack just enough stuff, with maybe an extra outfit for Katie, but then I go shopping while we're on vacation and end up not needing most of what we brought because the kids wear the new outfits I buy and not the ones we packed.

Not with Jillian almost 4 and Elizabeth 6, I try to get things right to the T with maybe one extra outfit for the "Just in cases". Thankfully, we are at the point that those Just in cases happen so far and few, minus Jillian's messy eating habits..LOL!
